I’ve been a bad blogger the last two weeks. There’s reasons why. Ever since we went camping I’ve been dealing with many physical issues caused by the fact I am going into menopause. I know this is a pretty personal subject, but by sharing maybe I can help anyone going through this know they are not alone.
I believe I talked about the weight gain in a blog previously. It’s honestly very frustrating. I’ve almost always been a smaller person but now holding onto 20 pounds of extra weight. This has affected my self-esteem, among other things. The mood swings have also been interesting. My whole life I’ve had mild PMS, so this monster is new to me.
All that being said, I’m a mess. Poor Luke has to deal with all this. Thankfully he’s very sweet and supportive. I’ve been doing a lot of research and there are many things especially pertaining to foods that will help lesson the symptoms.
Starting Monday Luke and I will be trying the Plant Paradox. From everything I’ve read it’s not a diet, more of a change in eating habits. Similar to what I learned from The Plan program (see previous blogs about that journey). The Plant Paradox, discusses the history of foods and how humans have changed their eating habits. The introduction of grains and legumes into our diets is relatively new in the spectrum of the world.
We will start with a 3 day cleanse and then follow a good food list for 6 weeks. It is limited but still lots of ingredients to choose from. After 6 weeks we will be able to add some ingredients back into our diets but in moderation.
Anyway, I hope this dietary change helps me while I go through this change in my body. I want more energy to be able to exercise and kayak and just be more active.
